Thanks to the generous donation of members of the local community, a scholarship fund was established years ago to provide support to employees of Inland Christian Home. Known as the Sutherland/Griffing Scholarship Fund, this scholarship gives employees much-needed support as
they pursue an education, specifically in a field that directly relates to the service and care of seniors.
To be considered for the scholarship, employees must be in good standing in their position and complete an application available through the administration office of Inland. Any employee who wishes to be considered simply needs to provide information regarding what course they would like assistance with, why they choose to work with seniors, and how that coursework will aid them in providing better care for the clients they serve. Each application is then reviewed by the facility and notifications of awards are made accordingly.
The most recent recipient of the scholarship is Sharon Espino, who works as a part-time Med Tech/ CNA. Espino, who is enrolled in an RN program, received her scholarship award this year and is using the funds to help cover the cost of her coursework. Inland is honored to support Espino in her educational journey, and we look forward to her continued dedication to the residents she serves.
Anyone who wishes to donate to the scholarship fund to help further the skills of our employees should contact Bethany Wiekamp, the Director of Fund Development, via email at bethanyw@ichome.org.
