On August 2nd, Inland Christian Home celebrated the retirement of a beloved employee, Mary Wolff. Mary, who began her career at ICH in June of 2007, dedicated nearly two decades of service to the community, lending her skills and expertise to the betterment of everyone who has worked and resided here.
When she first joined the ICH team, Mary worked in admissions and marketing, using her business background to grow the census and increase revenue so the community could continue to fulfill its mission of providing quality, faith-based care for the local area. Using her business acumen, her love of people and her faith in God, Mary’s time here brought many positive changes, and she touched the lives of everyone around her.
Over the years, Mary wore many hats, moving up to Director of Operations, then Nursing Home Administrator and eventually Chief Operations Officer. She took on the responsibility of overseeing every area of the community, and in all her roles, she served as an advocate for the residents and a leader for the employees.
As a leader, she championed for her staff, always providing the encouragement and support they needed to achieve their best so they could, in turn, do their best for the residents. Her work ethic prioritized family and faith, quality of life for the residents, doing the right thing for the right reasons and ensuring the right people were in the right roles so they could be most effective at their jobs. As a voice for the residents, she worked hard to make sure they received quality care at every level and the support needed to live their best lives.
Mary’s work will leave a long legacy at ICH. She was the driving force behind many changes, such as transitioning the skilled nursing department from a long-term care unit into a short-term rehab model that drives revenue and changing the community’s perception of skilled nursing care.
While she enjoyed many things about working at ICH, she will miss the residents and staff the most. As she enters this next chapter of her life, Mary is excited to see what the Lord has in store for her. Since her retirement, she and her husband have been busy planning future travels and have made the move to be closer to their children and grandchildren, something that has been a desire of hers for some time.
“We thank Mary for 17 years of outstanding work and dedicated service to ICH,” said Executive Director David Stienstra. “The results of her efforts are easily seen through the performance of ICH and are echoed by the residents, families, employees and Board. We wish Mary and her entire family all the best in retirement.”
